Re: Lordy I’m Late again!

July 31st, 2010

Clearly this blog has not happened the way I originally planned!

The title doesn’t even fit anymore!

The truth as I see it is that I don’t sit still for very long periods of time and am not budgeting the time I do spend at the computer to keeping up my committments to basics like this blog!

I now teach a Bollywood dance class and a pop cultural dance class and still take time for a new endeavor with animals

So my year has been very creative and it usually takes a birthday for me to put the brakes on for a minute and assess my year. Happy New Year to ME!

Summer’s on the Way

June 9th, 2009

I read an interesting story in the NY Times today on Blogs falling in the forest. Very funny, sounds like my little blog.

Anyway, I am taking Ioderol (Iodine) and continuing to detox with lots of herbal, mineral and vitamin supplements, ho hum, however, I have started teaching a once a month Meetup for Bollywood Dance here in Ft. Worth. So there! I did start dancing again! Even tho’ it is once a month I do practice also at home and have the energy to keep up the little webpage. It is working folks. Go to stopthethyroidmadness.com and dive in to the adrenal info and the symptoms page and I think millions of Baby Boomer women are like me.

OK in terms of massage…hmmm…I have begun to use the hypnosis skills more and more as people ask and I have started telling my clients that hypnosis for the body’s relaxation during the session is a little different than standard clinical hypnosis to change the thinking habits or mental programming to change behavior over time. In other words, to use hypnosis for the immediate deep relaxation is delicious. It is amazing when the mind settles down to just focus on the massage and give in to gravity. You would be amazed at how many people are so tense they cannot unwind quickly enough in an hour. Now within about 15 minutes, without the need to pummel and elbow, they can slip into a mello-jello state. Try it you’ll like it.

Also, I had an energy treatment by Beth Ann Kennedy from Indiana who inspired me to start healing treatments with stones again. It has been many years since I have used them and now it is time again. If you are interested in this type of energy work, give me a call or e-mail.

Warmly,

Hannah

Geez Louise, It’s Spring and I am healthier how ‘Bout You?

April 10th, 2009

This could be the beginning of a blog about my health journey, not that I haven’t always been on one however, it is getting interesting and is so different than in the past that I need to write about it.

Those of you that know me, know that there is nothing I like better than to blame all the crummy health on Alien agendas. I don’t drink, smoke, drink diet crap or eat any thing white…well um, maybe just a little. I keep my head up to the sun because thats where it all is…

Anyway, my weight had not changed, my energy had not improved, I knew I needed to get my silver mercury amalgams out but I thought I was dealing OK… R U still reading?

Well I ‘m already tired of this intro…I still work from can to can’t and I finally started reading online about my sneaky little symptoms.

More later…anyway, what started out as a simple Adrenal strengthening (4 kids and a divorce!) after 4 years you would think I had my health back, or up…now adds up to full endocrine system balancing, detox and radical self-nurturing. Don’t yall all do that?

And I am feeling better and better. I am going back to dance activity after getting winded just taking out the trash!

So I really can’t make recommendations without be a good example right?

Cheers and I really mean it this time,
Hannah

A New President Arrives

January 23rd, 2009

Watching the inauguration on Tuesday this week was so inspiring it felt like New Years all over again. But realer, ya know whut I mean?

Okay this is the deal, I have no discipline for this blog obviously but my excuse for actually posting today was the inspiration of watching over a million people look unbelievably happy, grateful, hopeful, you fill in the blank.

Not to talk about politics just the excitement in the air and a feeling that people really have expectation. That makes my work easier.

When my clients come in to receive nurturing from me, how lovely to see and feel the difference now that we are moving on into the New Year with new potentials. Politic or not, change is in the air and it feels nice.

Warmly,

Hannah

Stressful Storms and Gentle touch

September 14th, 2008

Up here in Ft. Worth we haven’t had much impact form the storms. I have been asking my clients if they have loved ones in the storms path and no one does so far, keep fingers crossed.

I am one who loves rain, how about you ?  Perfect time to give or receive a massage. I have been reading some interesting news form websites who are pointing out that wonderful things happen to the body with a very gentle touch.

Lymph drainage is one of the well known usages of a very light touch.  So are the cranial-sacral techniques from Dr. Bowen, Dr. Upledger, Randolph Stone and Dr. Morter (to name a few)

Premie babies gain weight faster and need less medication after surgeries. The non-force chiropractic techniques are of this nature. For a highly trained practitioner to perform these gentle maneuvers they need only be still, and listen to the body and respond accordingly.  There is one example I like to give comparing the ability of these healers.  It is the idea that there are people in this world who know how to listen or perceive with their senses in a such a heightened manner that you already know and believe in. Perfumers, Sommeliers (wine specialists) and also Forensics experts. These people can differentiate between thousands, yes thousands, of different smells, tastes and combinations.

Sometimes in session, I must take a back-door approach, the elimination method, of discovering what the source of their distress is.  More often than not, a person says “I don’t know how or why I feel bad, I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary” I then can be sure that the massage will help even if we don’t get to the real backstory.  What is completely true everytime is that they are stressed emotionally which translates to a chemistry imbalance in the body that is positively affected with massage.  Their symptoms are going to be relieved to a point.

In closing this long blog today, may I say that if someone comes to me after a fender bender, an extreme  physical exertion (pre or post) or an emotional upset, I can share with them an important fact: there are layers and categories of stress in the body that we can address immediately and have wonderful relief and there are the longer term type that may need more attention. Once this is understood, that they are not ONE big ball of stress and pain, that we will release many degrees of anxiety, the healing has begun!

And of course, there are those clients that it is not necessary to talk or discuss or otherwise analyze their condition and we will get a wonderful result too.  Which are you?

Warmly,

Hannah

Who Needs a Massage?

September 8th, 2008

September 4th, 2008

Everybody!  Sometimes I even feel that the word therapy is wrong because it may imply the need for a healing, that something is broken. I can understand the importance of a professional sounding title, since so many therapists feel we don’t get enough respect for our profession.

After 18 years of massage for all kinds of people in all levels of stress and distress, it is a comfort to me that some clients, in fact many now, see their massage as wellness insurance and hey…the priceless moment of recognizing they feel GREAT! No, I don’t like that word therapy, I have now moved to a yummy salon atmosphere where there are NO hair therapists…or nail therapists…am I a massage stylist now then? Just some thoughts…

Connecting= Networking

September 8th, 2008

Re: Networking = Connecting
September 2nd, 2008

That is what this blog is about. I am studying and implementing the work of Mr. Michael Port, who wrote Book Yourself Solid. (dot com of same name) Apparently there are thousands of people who are looking for me and my services and they don’t know how to find me! His clients are like mine…that is to say we are service oriented and the people we serve are also service oriented. Does that sound weird? To put it another way, I like to take care of people who are caregivers also. They really appreciate my massage and therapy and I can help them take care of #1.

Off to work I go, Warmly, Hannah
